• What is the Northwest Fort Worth Neighborhood Alliance?

  A neighborhood alliance is an umbrella organization of neighborhood associations, created to foster communication and/or advance common interests and initiatives among the member neighborhood associations.

  This Northwest Fort Worth Neighborhood Alliance is a coalition of neighborhood associations in northwest Fort Worth who have joined together to encourage, protect, and enhance residential quality of life and lifestyle in the area by (i) bringing area residents together to coordinate efforts to address issues impacting the area, (ii) enhancing communication links with city staff and elected officials, and (iii) encouraging improvement in area infrastructure.

• Who’s in the alliance?

  Membership in the Northwest Fort Worth Neighborhood Alliance is open to all neighborhood organizations within the following boundaries: Interstate 820 to the south, Fort Worth city limit to the west, Fort Worth city limit to the north, and Blue Mound Road to the east.

• How much does it cost for a neighborhood association to join?

  The alliance does not charge a membership fee. The only cost is your time—volunteering your time to improve the area within which we live.

• How does the alliance work?

  The alliance meets monthly. Meetings are open to as many representatives from a member association as want to attend. Alliance members discuss current issues and initiatives affecting the member associations. Alliance members, with a collective voice, work with city and county staff and officials, Texas Department of Transportation staff, and/or developers as needed to address the issues and initiatives, in the best interest of member communities.

• How does the alliance decide its position on an issue?

  Alliance decisions are made by a vote of member organizations. Each member organization has one vote. Although as many representatives as wanted from a neighborhood association may attend alliance meetings, only one representative from each member organization may vote on matters before the alliance. That voting representative must have the approval of their neighborhood association’s governing body to cast votes on matters before the alliance. Additionally, when an issue is before or expected to be before the alliance, the voting representative has an ethical obligation to advise the governing body of their neighborhood association of the issue, obtain the consensus of the governing body, and vote according to that consensus.

• Who runs the alliance?

  The alliance is led by 4 officers: President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer. Decisions are made by a vote of the entire alliance membership.

  The backbone of the alliance is its committees. The alliance currently has 5 committees.

  The Zoning Committee keeps abreast of zoning issues and zoning change requests and advocates with the City of Fort Worth and with developers so that zoning and land use decisions are in the best interest of our neighborhoods.

  The Schools Committee is focused on traffic around the schools, children having a safe route to school.

  The Parks Committee works to maintain support for the current parks and greenspace in our area as well as expand/enhance the parks and recreation areas/facilities available in our area.

  The Transportation & Public Works Committee works attends TPW meetings and reports back to the Alliance. They discuss with the TPW what our area needs are. This can include streets, sidewalks, drainage channels and storm drains, street lights, and rail crossings.

  The Social/Communication Committee keeps up the Facebook Page, Website and email blasts as well as Community Outreach to neighborhood associations that are not aware of the alliance.
